How often should I come for Acupuncture?
The number of treatments will vary depending your specific situation: general infertility treatment vs. working towards IUI, IVF, or FET for example. Below you will find a general recommendation for various situations.
ACUPUNCTURE (LASER or NEEDLE) FOR GENERAL INFERTILITY
The recommended protocols are 6 treatments over 2 weeks until ovulation. This equals 3 treatments per week for 2 weeks. This approach is repeated if pregnancy does not occur.
ACUPUNCTURE (LASER or NEEDLE) IN PREP FOR IVF / IUI
The recommendation is to start treatment 3 months prior to your scheduled IVF / IUI procedure. 3 cycles are advised as it takes approximately 100 days to achieve optimal fertility levels. During this time, the advised protocol is 1 x/ week until the final weeks before
ACUPUNCTURE (LASER or NEEDLE) IN PREP FOR FET (frozen embryo transfer)
The recommended protocols are 1x / week for the 1st 2 weeks during oral hormone administration, then 2x / week until the day of transfer. This equals to approximately 6-10 treatments up to the day of FET.
ACUPUNCTURE (LASER or NEEDLE) FOR PREGNANCY (Pre-Natal)
You can start acupuncture any time after week 8, and regularly scheduled treatments are recommended. Most commonly, people come 1x / 2 weeks or 1x / month depending if there are specific concerns to be addressed e.g. nausea, constipation, fatigue
ACUPUNCTURE (LASER or NEEDLE) FOR LABOUR PREP
Starting at about week 34 – 36, you can prepare your body for baby! Recommended treatment times are 1x / week for 4 weeks up until labour onset or induction (if you choose).
ACUPUNCTURE (LASER or NEEDLE) FOR POST-PREGNANCY (Post-Partum)
Acupuncture is fantastic for issues post-partum such as energy, breast-feeding / milk induction / engorgement, re-tonifying the uterus, and others. General recommendation is 1x / 2 weeks for the 1st 2 months after delivery, and then 1x / month for the following 4 months.
