Laser Therapy

Cold laser therapy is a relatively new technology compared to many other complimentary therapies. Many of these have evolved to include laser therapy in their treatment programs. Cold lasers are sometimes called Low Level Lasers (LLL) or soft lasers.

Cold Laser therapy offers a non-intrusive option to acupuncture. It also provides a non-addicting treatment that can potentially inhibit the complications of long-term drug treatment programs. Most sports / athletic treatments now use laser therapy as part of their healing protocols. Laser therapy is now used widely in many chiropractic, dental, veterinary, podiatry, physiotherapy, osteopathic, and acupuncture clinics.

Cold Lasers are widely used in the treatment of (not a complete list):

  • Rapid cell growth

Does it hurt?

No. The goal of laser therapy is to introduce light to the affected area, so there is no pain during treatment. Most people feel a slight tingling or relaxing warmth, and some fall asleep during treatment.

Is it effective?

Yes. Over 3000 research articles have been published on the effectiveness of laser therapy. Laser therapy has the most published research of all electrotherapy treatments around.

How many treatments will this take?

Your average treatment time will depend on five (5) things: the power of the laser being used, the condition that is being treated, how long you have experienced the condition, the size of the area being treated, and how your body responds to treatment. These are always evaluated at your first (or initial) visit with Dr. Gill.
