In Dr. Olena’s words:
“Since I was 10 years old, deep down in my heart, I wanted to be a doctor. I also knew that I was very attracted to natural approaches to improve health and wellness. My Eastern European and farming family background served as the backdrop and inspiration for living organically and healing naturally. My earliest education around the value of nature and living off the land was from my grandmother, who invoked my deep love of plants, food, and herbal medicine. I dived into the field at a young age, for both my own health and growth, but understanding that this was part of my larger soul purpose as well.
At 23, I became aware that I had a strong draw to being helping others within the healing realm. This includes many levels – health issues, emotional and mental health levels, as well as the spiritual arena. I have made that my primary focus no matter what modality service I am providing, in order to help you dig through the ‘inner muck’ in order to achieve harmony and wholeness.
I started The Mind-Body Connection Centre in 1994 and was the very first integrative holistic clinic in Nanaimo, BC. It began from a vision that was two-fold: that health and wellness was not a one-size-fits-all approach, and that wellness depended on fully integrating and addressing all levels of person – from the physical, to emotional, mental, and spiritual. In my office, you will get nothing less than that.”
Dr. Olena Gill has a long-standing, rich and diverse background, most of which has been in complimentary health-care. She stumbled into the field not quite by accident after she sustained both a bout of tendonitis, then a case of mono, along with low back fracture, all while finishing her first Bachelors Degree in Music. Diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder as well, taking some time away as well as Complimentary Medicine intervention allowed her to re-evaluate the direction of her life and explore her interests and desires for education. She experienced the power of Naturopathic Medicine first-hand and since her mid-20s, embraced the concept of treating the person as a whole, and not just their symptoms.
Since 1994, Dr. Olena Gill has been the Director of The Mind-Body Connection Centre, a holistic health clinic integrating over 15 different modalities of healing tools to assist people on their road to better health and wellness. Adding another Bachelors Degree in Psychology to the roster, in addition to volunteering her time for Naturopathic Doctors International in Nicaragua, Dr. Olena has provided customized health care to patients for over 25 years utilizing both her passions as an Intuitive, Reg. Acupuncturist, and Naturopathic Physician. As a graduate of Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster, BC, she holds both a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine and Registered Acupuncturist titles. She is dually licensed to practice in British Columbia, Canada.
Dr. Olena believes that all patients deserve the very best customized care that can be available and offered, and thus comes with a wide array of natural healing tools to serve you. Due to her perpetual love of learning, Dr. Olena is trained in many aspects of the healing spectrum, from the energetic to the physical, and has made it her life’s mission to learn as much as possible in the health arena, and to be able to provide as broad a toolbox of healing tools as is necessary. She holds many degrees, certifications, additional training, and continuing education courses.
Dr. Olena believes that intuition is inherent part of all people. As a young child she had many profound ‘esoteric’ experiences. Engaging in various spiritual as well as holistic medical disciplines later in life has allowed her to fine-tune these abilities over time. She combines both the science and spirituality to discern the deeper levels of disease or discord in her practice. Both medicine and intuitive practice are her passions, and she has discovered over time that patients can benefit from an array of modalities.
Dr. Olena understands that people’s health is in most cases multifactorial, and she her primary focus is create a space for her patients to be heard, supported and understood. Her primary focus in all cases is to uncover the ‘why’ that’s underlying your health concerns.
And there’s more …

Prior to returning to school and receiving her ND license, Dr. Olena also added life, and small business coaching to her ever-growing resume.
